Changing

        As people grow up, they change, and Mia Thermopolis from "Princess on the Brink" is no exception. "Princess on the Brink" is part of the "Princess Diaries" series, and it is one of the last books in that series. Something that really stood out to me about Mia in the earlier was that she was a true individual, through thick and thin. Although she always secretly wanted to be popular and sometimes acted a little bratty or whiny at times, she was always her own person, and followed her heart. However, in "Princess on the Brink", Mia starts acting like someone that she is not. At the beginning, she acts as if pleasing her boyfriend, Michael,  is  her sole purpose in life, and will do anything to keep him from going away to Japan, where he is going to in order to build a robotic arm that will help out in heart surgery and save lives. At one point in the book, she states that it's good that Michael's invention is saving lives, but what will happen to her life when he leaves? It's fine that she is really going to miss her boyfriend, but comparing her heartbreak to others' serious health problems comes across as really selfish. I always sensed something a little weird going on in Mia and Michael's relationship, because at one point in another book, Mia said that she loved Michael more than she loved her mom.If you love your boyfriend more than your mom, there's something wrong with your relationship with both those people. Things get even worse between Mia and Michael in "Princess on the Brink". Mia even stops being a vegetarian because she is so hurt that Michael has started lying to her, even though she has been a vegetarian since she was 6. The only reason she started eating meat was because she was heartbroken that Michael lied to her. I can definitely sense that Mia is changing and giving up what is really important to her. Mia should be happy that Michael is helping people. Mia and Michael also probably shouldn't be together anymore because they don't have a healthy relationship.
